Senator Michael O. Moore Announces $58,457
Grant for Auburn Police Department
BOSTON — Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) is pleased to announce that the Auburn Police Department was recently approved by the Central Region Homeland Security Council to receive a grant for a School Safety K-9 Initiative in the amount of $58,457. The Auburn Police Department is known statewide for the quality of its canine training program.
Although other communities in the region have canine units, Auburn’s is the only unit in the region that has a team trained specifically for school safety. This grant will provide for equipment and additional training to further enhance its canine program for school safety and security.
“The Auburn Police Department’s Canine Unit serves as a source of pride and is known throughout the Central Massachusetts Region for its program,” said Senator Moore “This grant will further enhance the Units ability to address dangerous school safety situations.”
