SENATOR MICHAEL O. MOORE HOSTS
DINNER & DESSERT
LEICESTER — At the Leicester Senior Center, balmy weather obliged all who came out for an afternoon of food and fun, courtesy of State Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury). Joined by staff and volunteers, the first-term Senator spent the afternoon grilling and serving food to the many Leicester residents who attended.
Fenway Franks on grilled rolls, chips, cold drinks, and dessert were served by Senator Moore, who was working two grills and making sure everyone had enough to eat. In addition to the Senators smorgasbord, over 100 fresh loaves of bread, donated by Widoff’s Bakery of Water Street in Worcester, were individually wrapped for each attendee to bring home.
The Leicester Town Band, conducted by Leicester High School Music Director Nicola Narcissi, covered an array of summertime classics like Flight of the Bumble Bee, which set the mood for this sunny Sunday afternoon. The band drew a number of supporters in addition to the dozens of seniors already in attendance. In addition to serving the band and their fans an all you could eat summer buffet, the Senator ensured that all the guests got a fresh loaf of bread to take home as well.
Senator Moore, who serves as the Senate Vice-Chairman for the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs, was pleased with the turn out.
“I wanted to provide a good meal to our seniors. They worked their whole lives to make our community what it is today,” said Senator Moore. “I would like to thank everyone who attended the event as well as the Leicester Senior Center for being such generous hosts and for providing me with a place and an opportunity to serve dinner here today.”
