John J. Binienda Award 3 Leicester Policemen
LEICESTER – On Wednesday night, June 10, Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) and Representative John J. Binienda (D-Worcester) presented three Members of the Leicester Police Department with Senate Citations for their commitment to prevent drinking and driving. The event which was held at the Leicester Police Station, honored Sergeant Daniel Dyson, Officer Derrick Ruth and Officer Ronald Tarentino for their efforts to enforce drunk driving laws and continue to help keep the roadways safe.
This event was held in recognition of Officers Dyson, Ruth and Tarentino receiving the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) “Drive For Life” Award, which was presented to selected police officers from across the state for their excellence and leadership in the enforcement of Drunk Driving Laws. Sgt Daniel Dyson been recognized for the past three years by MADD while Officers Derrick Ruth and Ronald Tarentino received the award for the second year in a row.
“I am honored to present official Senate Citations to Sergeant Dyson and Officers Ruth and Tarentino for their dedicated service to the community and for helping to keep our roads safe,” said Senator Moore. “It is a great feeling to know that these men as well as the entire Leicester Police Department are so strongly committed to preventing drunk driving and ensuring the safety of the residents of Leicester.”
“The Town of Leicester owes Sergeant Dyson and Officers Ruth and Tarentino a huge debt of gratitude for their zero-tolerance policy toward drunk driving,” said Binienda. “Anyone who gets behind the wheel under the influence poses a significant threat to public safety and it is important that we not take for granted the dedication and service of these officers as well as every officer serving on the force.”
